Welcome to James Young's Portfolio. Browse Young's body of work: The paintings I make speak of light & structure, and solitude, but not loneliness. And, although my subject involves conservation, I avoid the nostalgia so often associated with agricultural imagery.
My allegiance to barns began in childhood, and continued through my young adult life, as a laborer on local farms. Today, I continue the search for majestic barns as if yearning for lost kin. The barns I seek are stoic and persevere against great odds to live to a venerable age. My concern for my aging muse increases with each year, and I wonder at what point my audience will fail ... |
