Petteri Lehikoinen is a visual artist born in 1974 in Joensuu. His main body of work consists of oil on canvas paintings and drawings.
The Winged Impression -series was the first line of artwork that shared a same theme.
The theme consists of bird figures which are stylized and they include a strong sculptic presence.
The Sleep of the Beast -series was the next theme series. It consists of predatory animals found in finnish nature. These animals are also depicted in stylized form and they share harmonic colour range.
In addition to the aforementioned themes there are both abstract and semi abstract works in the Lehikoinen’s production. Also in these works one can find the artist’s pursuit to create balanced but strong composition using clear forms and colours.
Although artists production is mainly concentrated on oil paintings, drawing has always played important part in Lehikoinen’s visual expression. That has manifested itself in the comics of his, published in the comics anthologies of The Comics Society of Joensuu. Also Lehikoinen draws ink and pencil works on commission.
Lehikoinen’s goal as an artist is to obtain for himself and his artwork a strong artistic identity and clearly recognizable international style, style that draws its energy from the depths of North Karelian nature and character.
